Capital Projects
The Park District has always been committed to providing quality parks and recreational facilities for its residents. During the budget process resident input is collected. A master plan is compiled and infrastructure data extracted to begin the process of recommending Capital Projects to enhance and improve the overall Park District experience.
Park Planning
Funds in Park Planning are earmarked for work done by the Landscape Architect in the design and redesign of District park sites. Work scheduled for this year includes Patriots Park/Barth Pond engineering and steel edge replacements with trail improvements and picnic grove drainage, replacement of the Fishel Park band shell, the demolition of houses at Sterling North and Puffer, pavement repairs, oversight of Village storm water infrastructure improvements, Lyman Woods PSA’s construction and on-going maintenance, site master planning and miscellaneous project research.
Computer System
Replacement of network hardware, software licensing, and software upgrades.
Vehicle & Equipment Replacement
Funds allocated for the replacement of a 2000 GMC 2500 4X4, a 2002 Ford Dump Truck and a 2000 Jacobsen Mower.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure includes the basic facilities on which the Park District depends, such as parking lots, buildings, play equipment, heating and air conditioning systems and roofing systems. Projects planned for FY 2010-11 include pond edge/engineering/replacement and permitting for Patriots Park/Barth Pond and demolition of houses at Curtiss and Puffer.
Playground Equipment
No playground equipment is budgeted for replacement in FY 2010-11. The Village may fund the installation of new playground equipment at Sterling North Park pending the implementation of the Water Shed Infrastructure Project at that location.
Miscellaneous Projects
Funds for unanticipated projects and transfers to the debt service reserve funds.
IGA Improvements - Alternate Bid Items
The Village of Downers Grove is funding the Watershed Infrastructure Improvements at McCollum Park and Washington Park. The Park District has budgeted funds for miscellaneous alternate bid items.
Fishel Park– Band Shell Replacement
Funding for the construction of a new band shell at Fishel Park.
Patriots Park/Barth Pond Shoreline Engineering
Funding for the replacement/permitting of the steel pond edge and trail improvements at Patriots Park/Barth Pond.
Doerhoefer Park - Venard Parking Log Addition
Funding for conversion of lot on Venard Road to additional parking at Doerhoefer Park.
McCollum Park - Renovation Plan
Funding for renovation of McCollum Park.
Walnut Avenue - Property Grading
Funding for grading Walnut Avenue property.
