Nature Programs
Experience an unforgettable outdoor adventure at Lyman Woods! All Lyman Woods programs are led by a knowledgeable naturalist and are designed to meet the needs of specific audiences. Public Programs
Immerse yourself and your family in the natural world at Lyman Woods or the Belmont Prairie by taking part in a guided program! Whether you want to explore the woods at night, learn about native plants and animals, or just spend time outdoors, you are sure to find a program that meets your interests. New 
nature programs are offered each season, so check back often. Programs will be held outdoors so please wear comfortable clothes and take weather conditions into account. Shorts, sandals, and strollers are discouraged.
School Programs
Take part in one of our award-winning educational programs! Our knowledgeable environmental educators will lead your students on a guided discovery of nature and science. With over 2 miles of trails to explore in this 150-acre preserve, and unique features like a 10-acre wetland, 3 rare glacial kames, and countless animals and plants to discover, your field trip is guaranteed to be a true learning adventure. Our programs are hands-on and interactive, and are designed to meet Illinois State Learning Standards. Bring a lunch or snack to enjoy before or after the program in our outdoor picnic area, and check out a free TIMBER Pack to extend your experience.

Scout and Youth Group Programs
Bring your youth group to Lyman Woods for a variety of exciting educational programs for scouts and organized youth groups. Whether your group wants to identify trees, feed the birds, or explore the trails, our knowledgeable and fun naturalist will lead the way!
If you do not see the program you’re looking for, call us! With advance notice, we can accommodate most groups’ needs and specific learning goals. We also have certified merit badge counselors on staff. Home school Programs
Looking for a hands-on nature experience for your children? Lyman Woods programs are specifically designed to reinforce science content and lead you through the discovery and exploration of nature and science. Programs include outdoor adventures and nature-themed activities and games, and all programs are led by a trained environmental educator.
